Philately

Philately or stamp collecting activity is "the greatest hobby in the world"! This hobby began in England and eventually popular around the world. People who enjoyed philately or stamp happy collecting and researching is called philately.

Philately derived from the Greek Philo (interested) and ateleia (exempted from duties and taxes). The term was later used in French is "philatélie" and for the first time used by a Frenchman named Georges Herpin in 1864. This term means like postal stamps which are already paid by the sender, so that the recipient is not obligated to pay the costs of those headings.

On March 29, 1922 philatelic club was founded in Jakarta by the name Postzegelverzamelaars Club Batavia. After changing the name and form several times, this association now known as the Association of Indonesian philatelist (PFI), which is a national hobby organization. Philatelic activities received support from PT Pos Indonesia.
